Geraldine (Aunt Gerri) R. Tirone, a longtime resident of New Jersey, died suddenly on Saturday, May 13th.

Born in 1936 in Baltimore, Maryland, Gerri completed her nurse's training at Maryland General Hospital in 1957. Her career as a highly-respected nurse spanned four decades, specializing first in orthopedics and then in open heart surgery at the Veterans hospital in East Orange, NJ.

Gerri was a most beloved "Aunt" to her eight first cousins and many cherished cousins-in-law and all of their families; she was a strong and supportive family pillar. As a loving Godmother and a fun and favorite "Great Aunt", Gerri shared many years of joy and laughter with generations of children who loved her dearly. Those who were lucky enough to call Gerri their friend had their cups filled with her kindness and spirited humor.

Gerri was famous for her delicious Italian meals which often ended with a competitive game and colorful tales. Her great love, laughter and witty perspective will warm our hearts and memories forever. She is joyfully reunited with the loves of her life: her late husband Anthony Tirone, her mother Shirley Buczkowski and her dogs Marley, Missy, Duke, Casper and Cricket.

A memorial gathering will be held on Friday from 10:30am- 12:30pm with a funeral service to start at 12:30pm at the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 26 Mule Road, Toms River, NJ.
